Kim recently admitted that she's never been a fan of turning up for movie events, so perhaps the LA Confidential star is unafraid of trying something different.
'I've been so blessed because I've had such longevity. I'm not a big red-carpet girl. But I love the work,' the actress told People last week.
Who says you have to dress like a princess on the red carpet? Not Kim Basinger that's for sure.
Instead of opting for a skimpy frock that flashes the flesh or a full length gown with embroidery and drama, Kim opted for a sleek tailored suit by American design powerhouse Ralph Lauren.

Going the menswear route at the film premiere, Basinger dressed for the occasion in a tailored, navy, three-piece, pinstripe suit by Ralph Lauren Collection, complete with a tie and watch chain. The former model, who costars in Grudge Match with Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro, swept her long locks back in a tight low ponytail, parted down the center. She paired her daring menswear look with a bold red lip color as she confidently posed for photos beside a suit-clad Stallone.
The mom of up and coming model Ireland Baldwin, 18, was called "one of the most beautiful women that [has] ever lived," by her ex-husband Alec Baldwin in an interview in June. "Even divorce doesn't muddy my view of that," the 30 Rock alum, 55, now married to yoga instructor Hilaria Thompson, professed. (Basinger and Baldwin went through a notoriously nasty divorce back in 2002, followed by an epic custody battle over their daughter.)
Costar Kevin Hart told Us Weekly at the premiere Monday night, "I was a kid in a candy store" making Grudge Match. "I got the opportunity to work with Robert DeNiro, Sylvester Stallone, Alan Arkin, Kim Basinger." In the film, Basinger stars as Sally Rose, the on-screen wife of Stallone's character Razor. (Fun fact: Daughter Ireland plays the younger version of herself in the movie.)
Following the premiere guests made their way to Skylight at Moynihan which was transformed into a boxing arena complete with a boxing ring, punching bags, and food trucks including Red Hook Lobster, Phil’s Steaks, J-Dogs Pretzel Carts, Neopolitan Pizza, Go Burger, Melt Ice Cream Sandwiches, Baked By Melissa, and Meatball Shop. Their was also plenty of dance music played by DJ Bizzy.
